Lisbon Triennale Millennium bcp Universities Competition Award
In the learning period, thinking and reflecting are two of the most relevant vehicles to consolidate theories and practices that students acquires. This competition for ideas was open to master degree students in Architecture, from worldwide architecture schools (24 May 2018 – 30 April 2019). It invites to study Marvila, a territory in the eastern part of the city. The site is part of the Regeneration and Optimization of Cultural heritage in creative and Knowledge cities programme, known as ROCK. The hypothesis of this European project is based on the premise that local heritage can be a strong and efficient driving force for the redefinition of unclaimed urban voids and a support for innovative urban renewal solutions. The renewal of the Marvila district must also be considered from its cultural and social dimensions.
The aim of the competition is to conceive a Community and Interpretive Centre, also considering the metropolitan dimension, specific to the future condition of Marvila. The selected proposals will be part of the central exhibition Natural Beauty in dialogue with a photographic series of iconic examples of architectural rationality.
